Hiking to the Hot Springs!!

Remember back when KR and I attempted to go the hot springs but there was still snow and we didn't have proper foot wear? Well we decided to try again since it's been warm now. We dominated in round two.

We got a little ways into the hike when I suddenly realized, I hadn't been taking any pictures! Don't worry, it really wasn't that far in and I didn't miss anything. Plus, you know I took plenty of the rest of the day that you never would have guessed. . . Self-timers are fantastic!
Just looking over the ledge to the river
Then I found a tree and climbed on it!
Then KR found a tree and climbed on it.
We found some logs that crossed the river so we both walked across them.

I almost fell in trying to take this picture of us both standing on it.
Then on the way back, KR found a branch. Then he threw the branch into the rushing water.
Then we finally made it to the hot springs. There was a beautiful waterfall with cold water and then the hot springs on either side of it to warm you up.
I like to climb on rocks.

This is a really close up of one of the hot springs. The hot water was coming out of this little grotto and it looked so cool. Everything was like, crystalizing.

The pretty waterfall
Us in the hot water. It felt so good.
On the other side of the waterfall, there was this other spring. You can't really tell, but right in the middle water was just flowing out of the ground.
Ok I love this picture. On the far left, the green-brown water is the cold water, at the foot of the waterfall. The white strip is where the warm water is. Then on the far right, the black and red rocks is where the water was coming straight out of the spring and was super hot. I love the definite line dividing each.
Here I have one foot in the cold and one in the hot. It felt so strange. It was a really cool phenomenon. One was too cold and one was too hot. Haha. I didn't stand in this very long.
Then KR climbed up the side of the waterfall.
We were hot from hiking, so it was a nice cool down. But a little too cold!

Then I wanted to try!

It was freezing!
We climbed up the side trail to the top of the water fall (not under it, like in the previous pictures) for the next few pictures.
View looking down the waterfall.

The stream leading up the waterfall
Down stream after the waterfall

Classic paparazzi shot
Just us, in our usual pose
On our way out, I wanted to take a picture of the man-made ones but this was the only picture I got before people got in them. I snapped promise he was happy :)
Hiking back. Beautiful.

Driving back, I tried to take some pictures of the sunset and windmills but the quality wasn't great so I just messed around with photoshop on these for fun.

haha. I always have to take one of him driving. . . it's tradition.

The Birds and the Beads

For Mother's day, KR and I went up to Calene and Aaron's. It was the first time I can remember going up there and it not being freezing!! (Because they live more north, it tends to have feet of snow when down here in Provo, we would only have inches.) Her flowers were all in full bloom and I was in love. I can't believe how many gorgeous red tulips she had. If you didn't know, I am obsessed with flowers this spring. OBsessed.

Well when we got inside, the kids were making those bead projects where you place the beads on the little spikes and then you iron them to melt them together. Apparently the kids were arguing over who got to make me one and Steele won out over the rest of the crew. He (Calene) made me a little bear, complete with a heart on his shirt and "sharpies" (claws). It was adorable. Even Brian and KR got into it ( this is not the first time they've gotten in touch with their crafty sides). KR made a jewish star (or named later the "ninja star") and Brian made a butterfly, using the "pretty purple". (Man, good thing these boys never blog or else I would be in big trouble!)

Then Steele asked me if I was going to make him one and I said of course. I asked him what he wanted, and after his initial request of a black heart, we compromised on red, white and blue. Well, little did I know the anguish this would cause. I should have let him have black. As I was working on this fabulous masterpiece for an adorable little boy, I had to recruit some help in finding red beads. We got to the point where I needed ONE more red bead and NO ONE could find one!! Coral was my project buddy and she and I were being determined (that's what my grandma says I can call it, rather than stubborn) and just wouldn't resort to the "back up plan". Finally, we had spent so much time looking for the red, it was time to go to the bird walk, we had no choice. I had personally sifted through almost every bead, out of all 8450 (or something like that), as well as everyone else sifting like crazy, Coral came up with the idea to take a crumpled piece of red tissue paper and stick it in the hole and we just hurried and ironed it so the other ones would melt around it. Of course, Steele came over and just stuck a white in because he didn't care. But Coral wouldn't have it! So we took it out and tried the paper and it worked!! I guess this story is better if you were there to see how big of a deal we made out of this one red bead haha. But here is the finished project and then me and Coral, my little helper.

After finally accepting that there were NO more red beads left, we got to go to the bird walk in Salt Lake. It was just as the sun was going down, making for a beautiful view. I really like the pictures, I just wish I had a better quality camera. Here are some pictures though for you to enjoy.

The kids wanted cat tails but all the ones right on the trail had been picked. Since the wooden walk way was surrounded by the marshy wet lands, most of the cat tails were retrieved by a chain of people or then KR found some horizontal plants that were sturdy enough to support his weight and so he climbed in and got some.

It was a beautiful day and so relazing to take a nice stroll and enjoy the nature. :)

Cutting the King's Hair

Look how long it was before---
I think I did a pretty darn good job for my first time, don't you agree?BTW: We went to Sunflower Market (after weeks of Catherine's persistent 'encouragement') and we loved it! 88 cents for strawberries!! Thanks Catherine!
