Week 37

*we started giving him carrots to gnaw on and he loves them. He shaves it off with his two little teeth.
*we exchanged the jumper for a Walker/push toy. It looks like a motorcycle and he can ride it too. Best part? It plays normal songs-walking on the sun, I like to move it... best one is ticket to ride. The first time we put him with it, he let go ans stood for like 3 solid seconds haham hasn't again yet but he takes plenty of steps.
*he finally is at least putting his puffs in his mouth. Sometimes they squish out, sometimes he spits them out but at least they are going in voluntarily.
*hes also walking more along the couch and can get down a lot better, which is nice because he was always getting stuck haha.
*the remote was on the couch, on the chaise corner and he was reaching for it, unsuccessfully. It was so cute he didnt realize he could just go around the corner and reach it easily.
*in the bath, hes always sucked on the wash cloth. He has these nesting cups with holes in them and when we fill them and drain it above, he leans over and tries to drink it. He also has started putting his face in the water accidentally while trying to drink it from the tub.
*he does this growl, not out of anger, usually just when hes happy or playing. Adorable.

Forgot some stuff. Again.
*He has started turning the pages for me when we read to him. It's adorable and I only showed him like twice. And he is pretty good at waiting a bit before trying to change the next one. Not always but usually.
*he has started ducking when we put water on him or a hat. Hes still figuring out how to duck when trying to crawl under something. Luckily hes been practicing crawling under me, which is softer on his head.

36 weeks

*so i finally started to teach dean how to clap. At first i was clapping hiw 2 fists together. Then he slowly opened his hands and it made a sound. I would say Yay and clap his hands and then clap my hands. Then he started copying. Except. You remember that game where you all put your hands on top of each others, and then the bottom hand moves to the top. Then you keep doing that and it gets faster and faster and you're all just slapping. That's what he looks like he's doing. So adorable. so when I say Yay and clap he gets a huge smile and "claps".
*this week, I found myself saying no a lot. Hes starting to get into everything! I feel bad but a lot of things can hurt him (like the heater vent that's hot!)I never really said no much hefore though. Only in the bath tub. He tries to stand up. He started saying na na after I say no. Then later in the week, I started saying it more out of the bath and he is now saying it back to me when I do.
*his chicken neck/head is turning into bobbing. The other day I was in the mall with loud music and he was totally bobbing to the beat. Then we left the store and I asked if he was happy and he nodded twice. Im sure it was coincidence but it was so cute.
*my phone died this week so I had to get a new one. It's beautiful and I love it. But it was so sudden and I lost 2 weeks worth of pictures and videos. I know it could be worse but I'm still sad.
*KR is working today and Monday. No 3 day weekend. But everyone in his rotation has to do 2 weekend days and Monday counts so he will be done in one weekend. Look for the positive. ...
*dean is a bit backed up I think and so he's been eating less and waking up in what seems like pain. Poor little guy.

35 weeks

It's been nice to be home. I miss my family almost more than I cam stand and I miss the sun and warm weather. But as always, its nice to return to our own space and sleep in our own bed. Especially now that we have Dean. Him in his own room and crib is so much less stressful. We are grateful for all that was done for and given to us. We know its inconvenient to have house guests and I bet my family is just as happy to have their own space again too. Haha. June can't come soon enough though!
*since we've been back, Dean has transitioned to a runny nose and cough. Tuesday it was even sounding "bark-like" and I was really worried. I resolved to call the Dr in the am (I had already emailed her Monday, the poor lady is probably sick of me so I try and wait as long as I can stand). Wednesday morning Dean was coughing even more, but it sounded more phlegmy rather than barking, so I hope that was a good sign-just getting everything out. I suction his nose like ever hour in the mornings. He seems a little clingy at times but overall, he is happy and doing well otherwise. We had to get him saline drops so he could breathe and suck his pacifier to sleep haha.
*He also took great naps Monday and Tuesday! Mon was two 1 hr 40 min! Tues was same thing at even the same time in the am. Then afternoon we weren't home so it was only 45 min in my arms but still good. Wednesday he did the same thing in the am and then I can't remember the afternoon. Thursday, he took a bit longer to fall asleep and then, because I decided to lay down and try to nap, he only slept like 30 min. Haha. Figures. And then the afternoon nap didn't really work out at all either. Friday though, back to 2 naps, 10ish and 3ish. Both 1 40! Then today, sat, he's just finished his 1 30 min nap at 10ish!!! I really pray this is a routine for him! (Only to be destroyed by 9am church tomorrow? Haha). Night time is still the same as usual. As long as it's not the hourly thing anymore!
*he's discovered the "n" sound. Nananana. I love as he adds new sounds. *when playing with his elephant that blows the balls up, he works hard to grab the ball when its floating. When he finally succeeds he says something that sounds just like he is saying "I got it!" Haha.
*he does the brrrrrr/motor sound again and sometimes he does it with no voice, only breath and it sounds like he's purring.
*he got a jumper to hang in the door way. But he doesn't really get it haha. He just walks around from each side of the door frame, essentially in circles. I then realized he's always moving ans kicking but he's never once jumped. Most babies jump in your lap but he never has. I guess he's a kicker and runner. Haha.
*he's learned that in order for something to go in his mouth, he has to spit his pacifier out. It's quite adorable when he does. You can now tell when he plans to put something in his mouth haha.
*he has started "talking" in his sleep. It's more of his long sigh/singing sound. It's also adorable.
*dean got his highchair! He likes it and it was fun to finally let him just have free reign. He had fun eating banana in long way slices.
*he's crawling all over the house! I put him way in the living room with his toys and he made it all the way to me in the back bathroom. I wasn't even talking either!
*he likes to take the hand towels off the oven ans then screech at his reflection. It's so cute. He also always sees this one screw in the z-bar (apparently that's what KR says its called-its the strip between the carpet and linoleum) that he always finds and tries to pick up. Luckily its under the cupboard so he can't fall or step on it.




*he got to wear his new winter jacket!
*he also had some play dates with Reagan of course (Emily and I get together several times a week to work out)


*we also got together with Ruby and Vera (and I with Katie and Shelly)!
*we had dinner at a Mexican restaurant with KRs family on Friday night. Yummmm!! Dean had fun in the high chair (with his cover on of course)
*he also has started nodding his head! It's usually accompanied with his mouth opening and closing. Haha. It's hilarious.

As usual, I forgot some things

*Dean got an elephant that blows air and the balls come through his trunk. Dean very quickly learned how to activate it by pushing the red ball/button. I seriously was impressed by how quickly he learned! Babies are amazing!
*he also has a new way of spitting...he purses/pinches his lips closed and squeezes it out. Yuck! Haha.

34 weeks

*Dean is really becoming a chatter box! He's always made babbling sounds but usually only at home, not around other people. But now his babbling is turning into chatter! It actually started because he was sick. I will talk about that more in a minute, but he every time he cried, he'd say Manama and do this heart breaking cry with his mouth opened but his jaw closed. (Hard to explain.) So of course I would come when he did it. And it was mostly always when someone else had him. I think he is truly learning it means me. And then he does dadadada. He does that a lot more than anything else so I'm not convinced he knows it means KR but he still looks at KR when I say where's dada. And if I say "say mama" he does and same if I tell him to say dada. He will switch between the two when I tell him. And he also says babababa. Sometimes he has a ball when he does so I think he's making that association. It's incredible to see how smart he is and its just so fun to watch him learn. I don't think it will ever get old.
*so since everyone was sick with the stomach flu and then had colds, I think Dean got it too. He had two days of spitting up more than usual (which normally is like never anymore, which is why I noticed) and then after that, he got hoarse and sleep was worse. He wouldn't even nurse in the night. I think he had a sore throat and I still think he's getting over it. The worst day was because I don't remember him smiling all day. His nose has been yucky and although no real coughing, I think he's had trouble breathing and throat soreness. Poor little guy. Yesterday and today he seemed soooo happy though. Like, complete 180. I'm so glad!
*along with sore throatx healing ear infection, new environment and lots is strangers, his second tooth was breaking through. But two days ago, it looked like its through, which I think contributes to his happier demeanor. Haha.
*he doesnt seem to scrunch up his nose anymore when he gets excited or smiles. I'm sad. But his new smile, sans scrunch, is so beautiful and adorable. I love him so much!
*so Sunday we went to church and then that night we had a girls night at aunt danis with all the cousins. It was so fun!
Monday we just hung out and then we went to the beach for pictures. My dad took them and I LOVE how they turned out! We went at sunset though so we had to hurry and I only wish we could so more. I love them though.
*Tuesday we went to look for bridesmaids dresses. It was so fun! We went to David's bridal and each had our own dressing room. We each had the same dresses in the same order but just random colors. So we would go in and try the same one at the same time and come out to compare. We decided on the very last one, which was a perfect compromise for everyone. I liked a lot of the dresses though. I felt so pretty. I wish I had more excuses to dress up haha.
*that night we had a low key new years. We played games and watched tv and quietly rang in the new year so we didn't wake dean haha. We had such an amazing year full of love and blessings. I'm so grateful.
*Wednesday, new years day, we decided to go on a hike. Dad researched one in the Laguna hills and only me, KR, Dean, Jen and Michael wound up going, with dad of course. It was a loop trail and when we got to the point where we head back, we opted to keep going instead and then it took way longer to get back. The park closed at 5 and we weren't making it back on time. Then at 5:01, dad sees the guy down below, locking the gates!! We get down and I am crying because I feel like its all my fault. So I run. I wanted to make it as soon as possible because the sun set, its cold, and dean hadn't eaten in too long and his bottle was in the car. Plus I hoped if the guard was there, he would feel bad and let us go. I ran, in really cold temps, short sleeves, capris, flip flops, for a mile. I saw the gate closed but I tried it and it opened! I ran over started the suburban and it stalled!! Finally I get it going and get out th gate. By now, the group is not very far down the road. But we made it. I still feel bad. Then we went to the movies and Marissa watched Dean. It was our first time since he's been born and the longest baby sitting so far. It was so nice!
*Thursday Jen and Michael wanted to see Newport temple, so we went and walked the grounds. Then we went to mile square park. They played some soccer while I laid on a blanket with dean. Then half the group left and KR and I went for a walk. By this day, my dad and Linda were sick. So we all hung out that night and watched Mary poppins.
*Friday, Jen and Michael, Marissa and Chris left. Dad and Linda stayed upstairs and then afternoon, Bethany and amber went to work. So we were all alone :( so I visited the salon and we ran some errands and packed.
*today we flew home. We were later than we wanted to be. Then, both our bags were overweight! 7.5 lbs each! Had we had more time, we would have repacked and made it work. But instead we had to hurry and make one back underweight and then had to pay $50 for the over one!! I always knew an extra bag whole cost less than overweight fees. But we just didn't have time. I'm still so mad at myself. It's all my fault. I overpack every time. We made our flight, which was a little behind and then we made it home safely. We are so very grateful for the time we had to rest and have fun and spend time with family and friends. We are humbled to know heavenly father takes such good care of us. I hope your holidays were equally as awesome!!

33 weeks!

This week was busy!! Last Saturday we packed up and flew to California!! Our flight was evening and although it was smooth, Dean was a little fussy cuz it was his bedtime. He didn't sleep at all but was very close. Then we landed and basically didn't get him to sleep until midnight! The next day we went to church. He slept for about 20 minutes after sacrament. Luckily he slept an hour on the way to apple valley but he didn't sleep again until a 20-30 min nap in the evening and then on the way home.
This was our first Christmas without grandpa Schultz and it was hard. We had a fun time and dinner was good. But once we started the chimes, it was really hard. The whole night, something felt like it was missing. Or someone rather. I kept hearing grandpa shout my name over the hustle and bustle. Then uncle Jeff was the new reader of Santa and the mouse. I didn't even make it through the first sentence. I miss him. But after everything, we went to grandpa's work shop and grandma told me she saved his first toolbox from when he was 2 or 3 years old for me! I'm so excited!
Monday I went to visit with Sandra and Traci. I love those girls! And it was so fun! Then when dean and I got home, I decorated the gingerbread house, while Marissa did hers and Jen and Michael did theirs. Then after dinner, KR and I went on a quick trip to babies r us and dean was baby sat.
Tuesday was Christmas eve and Jens birthday. We went to ihop and dean sat in a high chair for the first time! Four spoons on the floor later, haha. It was fun though. We went on a walk along the pier later and the weather was gorgeous!!! High 70's to even 80 all week!! We had a fancy dinner for Christmas/birthday and then afterward, Michael gave Jen her birthday present-he proposed!!! He had saved receipts and movie stubs from dating ans taped them on boxes that got smaller. My dad got it all on video. It was awesome and special. Then we walked to jeffs and debbies and then went to the heil lights and walked around! It was so fun! On the way home, we saw a million lanterns in the sky!!! It was so cool!!
Christmas!!! We may have brought dean in to our bed for an hour...haha. We had fun helping dean open his presents and once again, we were all spoiled!! We had breakfast ay Jeff and Dani's and it was delicious. The rest of the day was low key and then the sickness set in! Michael and amber and Marissa got the flu!! Michael has Crohns so he was in a lot of pain.
The next day was very low key so KR and I went to the beach for a run and Bethany came to walk and push Dean. It was so beautiful and felt great! That night we went to my grandmas, which as excited as I was, it was also nice to escape the germs haha. Double bonus! We got there super late, stayed up chatting and finally went to sleep.
Well dean had been getting slightly better at sleeping. The prescription seemed to be working, and he was sleeping sounder and getting used to the noise. He even slept through the dog barking! But then that night, he woke up every hour and a half! It was a rough night and we were exhausted the next day. We just hung out and then went to the grocery store and babies r us. That night was the same thing! So at like 4, we put him in our bed and he slept 3 1/2! Haha oops. The next day we were slow moving and just hung out again, which was nice to relax. We did Christmas and after dinner, we packed and left, getting home late again. And that brings us to Saturday night, which I only blog from Saturday to Saturday, so you'll h ave to wait until the next post to see what happened next!! Haha. Merry Christmas!!
