41 weeks

*hes started that adorable bashful thing where he turns in to me. He's never been cuddly so I LOVE it!
*he can finally open cupboards. .. boo haha. So we finally put those hinge things. So inconvenient.
*he also touches drawers and reaches 3rd shelf. Yikes.
*i was eating Greek yogurt and he came over begging for a bite. I thought he'd hate it but no. He loves it. So I bought him some and I sweeten it with banana.
*sunday he wore his Valentine outfit since last sunday we were snowed in. He matched his little friend ashlyn and they had a photo shoot.




*if he has eomething in his hand while im getting him dressed, he switches the object to his other hand when putting the sleeve on
*Clapping!!! And he does it without prompting if I just sing if you're happy and you know it.
*when im giving him his bottle when he's starting to pull it out of his mouth like he's done, I ask all done and do the hand motions. If he won't say anything, and I offer it he puts it back in and drinks more. If he says "ya" and dada ("all done") and I offer, he never puts it in.
*funny story. So i have this sheet of activities to help him lesrn different things like communication, gross and fine motor skills, problem solving, etc. One thing was to give him 2 objects, one in each hand and offer a third to problem solve. Well, after looking intently for a few moments, he solved his problem- his mouth! Hahahaha.


We went hiking today (saturday). Dean went piggyback for the first time and did great. We packed a lunch and hike to the top of pittock mansion. It was a great view even though it was freezing.












He even fell asleep on the way back, thank goodness.

This hike got me excited for tahoe!!!

40 weeks

Sunday Church was cancelled so we stayed in for the morning and read some articles in the ensign. Then the wind died down and we went for a walk to check out the ice. It was so awesome. The 8 inches or so of snow that we got the two days prior had about a quarter inch layer of ice on top. It was nuts! then they said Sunday evening it should start thawing out. It did rain but the snow didn't melt very much and they said temperatures that night would still go below freezing. Kr got another email saying Monday was closed. Another snow day!! It was turning to slush but still icy and slippery. We took a walk 2 Starbucks and got yummy hot chocolate to warm up.
*we were skyping and I showed dean how to wave and he finally did it!!
*when we sit down in the chair, he looks at the book shelf. He knows that's what's next. He seems to be unsettled sometimes until I grab his peekaboo book haha.
*he has been trying to put his pacifier in my mouth.
*he had his 9 month appt. He still has some fluid behind his left ear so she wants to see him in another month.
*we took him with us on our Valentines date so we went to Sweet Tomatoes. Dean was eating the peas. We've given him smashed peas but he never really liked them so we were surprised when he was eating them whole. Then k.r. gave him cucumber assuming he would hate it and he wound up loving it! He was eating it from the center and then spitting out the skin.
* he has started pulling at his hair while he eats which I hate. I don't want him to lose his beautiful hair again so I distract him by letting him play with my mouth which I normally don't like because he makes my skin breakout.
* my absolute favorite is right when he wakes up from a really good nap. He is so happy and I feel relief because he slept. He's so adorable too with his messy hair and his rosy cheeks. And then the best part is he has his pacifier in his mouth but its just the tips of it and he's holding it with his lips. for some reason I think its so cute.
* he's also started biting but I think it's because he might be teething. He's been clingy and fussy and does this squawking sound all the time.
* kr started his next rotation. He's now doing family medicine at a clinic in West Linn and the two doctors he shadowing are LDS. He hasn't really done much yet because he had snow day and 2 days of tests and orientation and then Friday was a half day. Apparently from time to time he will have a half day on Fridays which I'm excited about. And this one landed on Valentines Day! So he was really nice and let me paint my nails and took care of Dean and surprised me with surprises before we went out to dinner.

39 weeks

*He started doing this long, deep gasp. It freaked me out the first free times but now I'm used to it.
*he gives me kisses when I ask. It's a wise open mouth kiss haha. I melt every time-mostly from love but sometimes from slobber haha.
*so i started walking withhim holding my fingers but then i would say run!run!run! And i run and he moves his feet fast. He loves it! Then when ever you hold him like that but pick him up, feet of the ground, he just runs his feet in the air. I call it his Flinstones run haha
* he pushes his motorcycle toy fast on his knees and towards the end of the week, he started walking faster too. He still prefers knees but does walk too.
*we had roasted Tomato in olive oil and kr put one in his mesh and he liked it! We also started cauliflower but I'm nervous about gas haha.
*so he was sleeping really bad and so I called the advice nurse. She had me bring him in. Waste of time. His diarrhea was from the medicine and that's all they said. Oh well he got back to "normal" as the week progressed.
*we made cookies with peggy and they were so cute!!
*so I was playing peek a boo with his car seat cover and then he grabbed it and did it himself! He also does it with a blanket.
*Thursday the news warned of 1-5 inches of snow! I was getting worried as it started but kr couldn't leave because they had presentations. Meanwhile, the rest of the city did lieve and apparently it took up to 3 hours to get home for some people! The snow came down a lot!! It was so dry and tiny flakes. The wind was just blowing it everywhere. I was nervous about kr riding the bus down the hill so he took the stairs down to barber and took a bus home that way. He actually made pretty good time. But we got so much snow that he got an email saying class was cancelled the next day. He actually had a test that day but obviously didn't take it. But it was so fun we had a snow day on Friday and we went for a walk with the stroller and had fun. Then saturday it snowed just as much as the day before! And it was still just as windy. It turned to freezing rain right about when we decided to take a walk. We didn't even get off our street before we had to turn around because it was ice pelting us in the face. Then saturday night, they had a freezing rain warning and and it rained but it was so cold that we got a quarter inch of ice on everything! To be continued in week 40s post!!
*when Dean sees something on the other side of the stool, he doesn't understand to go around so he tries to duck but can't. Then he just gets mad or upset.
* he has also discovered the bookshelf and likes to pull all the books off.










That blue line on that old water heater is the top. Because this is hidden behind walls and a fence, the wind didn't touch it therefore it was a true measurement of the snow fall.

38 weeks

*he has been laying his head down on rhe floor and us a lot. Hes never done that and as adorable as itbis, im worried. My brain immediately jumps to brain tumor or something. But hopefully it just means he is getting older and just rests when he needs to.
*he is not only pulling up but really reaching!! And he is using the pump bag as a step to reach farther on the couch.
*hes started crawling in the bath tub. Getting much steadier. He loves the bath. *he finally eats his puffs. Last week he finally put them in his mouth but they would slip out a lot. Now he full on chows down.
*hes started the ga ga sound
*he climbed on to the dishwasher and discovered toilet paper.
*the scrunched nose and snort is back haha
*hes taking steps with his walker toy. For a while hed only scoot on his kneew but hes finally back to standing up and walking
*he discovered buttons on clothes. He likes to pull at them.
*he will stand at the edge of the couch and put his head down and then we say Where's Dean? And he lifts his head up, smiling. Then he does it again. We never really taught him this-just the generic game of us hiding it putting a blanket over him. It's amazing how smart babies are.
*Monday I decided to call the dr office because he had been pulling in his ear again and sleeping got worse. I took him in and he had another ear infection in the same ear. The left one. Because he had taken amoxocillin (?) So recently they wanted to give him augmentin, which is basically amox...with something added. So the next day, he had the worst diaper rash I've ever seen. He has never really had much if any before. I was trying to feed him and he was just crying. This didn't seem right so I had the thought to change his diaper, even though there hasn't been much reinforcement for me in the past to change him to make him stop crying. I opened his diaper and it was so red! As I began to change it, as gently as I could, he was crying so hard and literally shaking. It was horrible. I slathered cream and it got a lot better the next day and wipl look almost gone at some points and then it will seem to come back, even though I slather it every single time. The first day there was even eome tiny blood dots! Meanwhile, as it's been getting better, there is still one spot that isnt. Its not rash though, its more of a spot of broken skin :( poor little guy. It hurt when I put him in the bath those first few days. Im thinking the meds have made his skin sensitive. The first day his forehead was all red from taking off his shirt. He has never had sensitive skin.
*this week, I made homemade biscuit/cookie/bars for him to practice chewing. They had pear, banana, water, his cereal and brown rice flour. They baked super hard but he sucks on them and he loves them. He will sit and gnaw on it forever.
*today (Saturday) we went to the temple for the first time since I got pregnant. It was sooo nice and I LOVED the new new movie. Im so grateful we could go and it's so close. KRs parents worked in the temple so we met them when they finished and they took Dean home with them. He cried a bit at first but apparently did pretty well. He was really happy when I snuck in. Once he saw me he started crying hard haha. He remembered he missed me.

Week 37

*we started giving him carrots to gnaw on and he loves them. He shaves it off with his two little teeth.
*we exchanged the jumper for a Walker/push toy. It looks like a motorcycle and he can ride it too. Best part? It plays normal songs-walking on the sun, I like to move it... best one is ticket to ride. The first time we put him with it, he let go ans stood for like 3 solid seconds haham hasn't again yet but he takes plenty of steps.
*he finally is at least putting his puffs in his mouth. Sometimes they squish out, sometimes he spits them out but at least they are going in voluntarily.
*hes also walking more along the couch and can get down a lot better, which is nice because he was always getting stuck haha.
*the remote was on the couch, on the chaise corner and he was reaching for it, unsuccessfully. It was so cute he didnt realize he could just go around the corner and reach it easily.
*in the bath, hes always sucked on the wash cloth. He has these nesting cups with holes in them and when we fill them and drain it above, he leans over and tries to drink it. He also has started putting his face in the water accidentally while trying to drink it from the tub.
*he does this growl, not out of anger, usually just when hes happy or playing. Adorable.

Forgot some stuff. Again.
*He has started turning the pages for me when we read to him. It's adorable and I only showed him like twice. And he is pretty good at waiting a bit before trying to change the next one. Not always but usually.
*he has started ducking when we put water on him or a hat. Hes still figuring out how to duck when trying to crawl under something. Luckily hes been practicing crawling under me, which is softer on his head.

36 weeks

*so i finally started to teach dean how to clap. At first i was clapping hiw 2 fists together. Then he slowly opened his hands and it made a sound. I would say Yay and clap his hands and then clap my hands. Then he started copying. Except. You remember that game where you all put your hands on top of each others, and then the bottom hand moves to the top. Then you keep doing that and it gets faster and faster and you're all just slapping. That's what he looks like he's doing. So adorable. so when I say Yay and clap he gets a huge smile and "claps".
*this week, I found myself saying no a lot. Hes starting to get into everything! I feel bad but a lot of things can hurt him (like the heater vent that's hot!)I never really said no much hefore though. Only in the bath tub. He tries to stand up. He started saying na na after I say no. Then later in the week, I started saying it more out of the bath and he is now saying it back to me when I do.
*his chicken neck/head is turning into bobbing. The other day I was in the mall with loud music and he was totally bobbing to the beat. Then we left the store and I asked if he was happy and he nodded twice. Im sure it was coincidence but it was so cute.
*my phone died this week so I had to get a new one. It's beautiful and I love it. But it was so sudden and I lost 2 weeks worth of pictures and videos. I know it could be worse but I'm still sad.
*KR is working today and Monday. No 3 day weekend. But everyone in his rotation has to do 2 weekend days and Monday counts so he will be done in one weekend. Look for the positive. ...
*dean is a bit backed up I think and so he's been eating less and waking up in what seems like pain. Poor little guy.
