Delayed Reaction

WOW!!! It's been forever! I am so sorry to those of you who faithfully check my blog. I have left you hanging. I bet you were wondering, "where in heaven's name has Heather been??"

Well, I apologize. I hope you can find it in your hearts to grant me forgiveness.

Anyways, How ya been???

It's 2008!
It's already mid January though! That means I am 1/24th done with the year and I haven't even written one single blog? I am horrible!

I guess I should start with a brief recap of how 2007 ended, and how my Christmas break went, and then I can catch you up with the new year....

I went home for Christmas break, after taking all my finals, and a safe drive home in ol' rusty...or whatever you wanna call my car.

I drove home with a few friends from back home so it wasn't too bad of a trip, other than the fact that I was out of windshield fluid and so anytime dirty snow was kicked up by trucks, it would dry and then I couldn't see out the blasted windshield. SO that made for a pretty tense journey and I was in serious need of a massage when I got home. Oh well, it was worth it!

CALIFORNIA!

Ah I love home. It was nice to be home for the holidays, it felt so much more like christmas once I was with my family, and once I had a tree! My family and I went through our usual holiday traditions and Christmas was wonderful. It really was.

Before Christmas, we needed to take our family christmas card photo and so we all went down to the Bella Terra (simultaneously my sister's work...poor thing...so embarrassing haha), complete with matching shirts, dad's tripod and two chairs. That's right, no professional haha. I love my family. It was kind of embarrassing at first but I got over it quickly. I was grateful I was no longer at that age where things like that mattered to me and I was able to just enjoy it.

We went to my grandparents house to celebrate, the Sunday before, and that was pretty fun. I still have pictures stuck on another camera and I will post those asap.

For christmas, we always get new pajamas, the only gift we are allowed to open on Christmas eve(I'm finding that a lot of people have that same tradition!) Here's me in mine.

We got so many fun things for christmas; we are so spoiled. We got Dance Dance Revolution(DDR) and Singstar(Like GH only singing) and lots of clothes and other fun things. But the best part, by far, was... I GOT A NEW CAMERA! It's so pretty and now I can take all sorts of pictures!! I LOVE IT!

So all day, we just spent time with the family, playing DDR and singing our hearts out. My dad even gave DDR a chance.

This is why I love my dad. I seriously do and I think he is the coolest dad ever.

SO that was Christmas I guess. Very nice and merry :)

I also got the chance to work at the salon over break to make some extra money. It was SO fun to see everyone's reactions when they would realize I was working. I got a few "hallelujahs" and a bunch of squeals of excitement, and overall, I just felt so loved and remembered why I loved it there so much. It was fun to be back in that scene, where everyone is social and the world is just moving. Sometimes I feel like Provo is at a standstill. hahah. I still like it here, no worries. But there's just something about Southern California that I just can't get over. I love it. Anyway, so that was so fun to work at the salon again. I love those girls.

I also got the opportunity to visit my mom and Becca and my grandparents. That was so fun too and I was really glad I got to go. Another merry christmas. One perk of having two families: two holidays. I get spoiled even more. Boy did I ever. I am so loved, I just don't get it. But I am certainly not going to complain; only look for ways to pay it forward. :)

New Year's Eve-----------I got to talk to David!! That was sooooo exciting and made my New Year!! He was on a layover in Dallas, and now he's in Argentina!! He made it safely and is doing great. (If for some reason you want to get the weekly email from him, random I know, let me know and I can put you on the mailing list.)

New Year's Eve, I just hung out at home. My parents went to bed early, so I just watched TV with my sisters. So it was really low key.

So basically, my break was great! I got to see some friends I missed! I got to have a little pinch of my old life, with a dab of good memories, and an abundance of love, fun and great weather!

BUT, right before it was time to come back to Provo, we had a huge storm in Ca, and I was afraid of hitting the snow version of it, driving back. Luckily there was barely anything, just cloudy skies that made for a great scenic route while I drove back to Utah solo.

At the very end I hit a blizzard and it was really scary but for some reason I just knew I would be ok and I talked myself down and really stepped up to the plate. Haha. For those of you rolling your eyes, I apologize but obviously you don't know me very well. Otherwise you would be like, "Wow Heather, you didn't have a total meltdown and cry?" hahahaha. NO I didn't.

Soooooo...back to Provo I came and I am enjoying myself once again. I forgot how cold it is here though. While I was home, I got into a "summer mode" as I call it, and started wanting it to be summer and dress for summer. However, the temperatures here in Utah are simply not allowing it. At least, not for a few more months. So for now, I have to suck it up...or cover it up....in layers and layers. If you would've asked me a few days ago, I would've told you it's actually not too bad. But the last few days have been FREEZING.

A new semester means new classes, new books, new schedule, new work shifts, new friends....NEW.

So far classes seem ok. I am taking a lot of my social psychology classes so there is a lot of reading and conceptual learning which makes me nervous. But I managed to squeak by last semester with at least a B in every class, and I thought I was going to bomb that semester, so we'll see. For now, the only complaint I have is my Thursday morning opening shift. I have to BE AT WORK at 5:30, which means I have to leave my house around 5, which means I have to get up to shower and get ready for the whole day by...3:30! That's insane I know. And everyone's question is, why do you take so long to get ready? But I honestly prefer to have enough time to get ready, rather than be rushed and stressed and always feeling like I forgot something. I could get ready in like 45 minutes if I really tried. But like I said, I hate rushing that.

SO here I am, at work, blogging. Yes productive, I know. But it's been so long since I updated and I finally found time to do so. SO you can't complain because if I wasn't doing it here at work, you wouldn't be reading this. (Who knows, maybe you aren't even reading this anyway.) It's an early shift and literally no one is here. So no worries. Plus, my boss really doesn't care.

Annnnnnnnnyways, so yes, Life is good. Friends and school are good, and I am pretty happy. The one thing that would make my life that much better is if I had ear muffs. My ears were freezing this morning! hahahah.

Well I hope all is well and I will be better about this, you know I usually am. I just got thrown off by the holidays and finals and so forth.

Talk to you later home slice :)

you're getting a taste of my life! I open at work too, we also open at 5:30! I've been doing that every work day for the past 6 months! I'm like an old lady, i go to bed at 9pm every night! I only get up at 4:30 though, because I take my shower, blow dry and straiten my hair the night before...that really cuts down on my getting ready time. Welcome to my world! oh what a life!
