(Please note that the following post has a little overlap from a previous post)
When KR and I were registering, we quickly found the hardest thing to decide on was our bedding. Not to mention, it was probably the only thing we disagreed on, which made it the hardest thing to decide on. Discussions, debates and opinions were shared in an amiable, mature fashion, but it was simply hard to find something we both could be happy with.
It's hard to find a happy medium between Martha Stewart and Grizzly Adams.
We finally chose red and light blue, but then we couldn't find anything with that combination. We tried to just make our own but then there wasn't any dimension to it.
Then we switched to a black and white pattern bed set and registered for some powder blue sheets to go with it.
Well, the only things we got bedding-wise, as grateful as we are, were the beautiful pillow cases.
Well, once things settled down after the wedding, honeymoon, trip up the coast and second reception, we realized we had gift money we could use and we were no longer obligated to choose a set from the only two stores we registered at.
SO.
We started shopping around and found it was still too hard!
Finally, we settled on all white linens, which we thought would look crisp, fresh and clean in contrast to our sleek, black furniture in our room. Then, the plan was to accent the bed with a few red and white pillows.
We continued shopping. We found our comforter for super cheap at Target (and ta-da we already had gift cards there. . . .understatement of the year). KR's mom came across white sheets at Costco and picked them up for us. We were so excited and grateful! After purchasing a bed skirt from Target as well, we only needed white pillow shams and red pillows.
After checking every where, a few times each, we finally gave in and decided that I would just make them!
I looked at an old one and measured it and winged it and whipped them up really quickly!
(again, I know I posted on this previously, but that was a little more in detail and now the pictures below are better quality)
NOW for the good stuff.
While shopping around for accent pillows, I found out how expensive those dang things are! I finally determined it would also be better to make them myself- not only would it be cheaper, they would be exactly how I want them.
I finished one of the red pillows!! I am sorry; I don't mean to brag. But in a way, I do. I am so impressed with myself haha. I saw several in the store like this and I loved them so I decided to copy it. Isn't it SO pretty?? Pictures do not do it justice!! If you want to come over and see it in person, you are more than welcome!

In other news, I have picked up reading lately. I guess it's finally been long enough since I graduated that I can finally read for fun and enjoyment again. I've already finished three books in the last month! I've been trying new things around the property at KR's parents to keep up the yard, just to experience them. And, I've been trying to continue working on my cooking. Phew! I love this trying new things! I figure if I have the time, I might as well work on improving and developing talents. Who knows when I'll have this kind of time to do so?!
I hope you're all keeping busy and staying productive this Summer. I have no doubt you're all staying busier than I am haha.

I wish I would have known about the bedding dilemma earlier. The way I got the bedding I liked, was to lay on the display bed in a seductive way :) It worked real well!
